Introduction: The diagnosis of psychotic disorders in adolescents with a history of neurodevelopmental conditions poses a significant clinical challenge. Symptom overlap and multiple comorbidities can difficult a timely intervention.
Objective: To present the clinical case of an adolescent patient with acute psychotic symptoms, a history of ADHD, psychomotor and language developmental delay, and neonatal hypoxia, highlighting the diagnostic and therapeutic complexity in this population.
Method: Case report.
Results: This is the case of a 16-year-old adolescent with a history of disruptive behavior, psychotic symptoms, episodes of severe psychomotor agitation, hypersexuality, and affective changes, with multiple hospital admissions and a fluctuating clinical course. The diagnostic and therapeutic approaches employed are described, including the combined use of antipsychotics and follow-up through a day hospital program.
Conclusion: This case highlights the importance of a comprehensive and multidisciplinary assessment in adolescents with severe psychiatric symptoms and altered neurodevelopment. Early identification, flexible therapeutic strategies, and close follow-up are essential to achieving clinical stabilization.
